Occupying a former banking chamber beneath a 1970s office tower, Martin Place Bar transforms a space once defined by formality into a contemporary hospitality destination at the heart of the city. The project retains a sense of the material history of the original site, including travertine-clad walls and marble detailing, while introducing new layers of texture and connection.

Polished concrete floors contrast with book-matched marble, timber panelling and stainless-steel accents, creating a balance of raw detail and refinement. Narrow slot windows were replaced with vertical folding doors, opening the interiors to the courtyard and allowing a smooth transition between indoor and outdoor spaces.
Acoustic ceilings balance the energy of the bar, softening the sound while maintaining a lively atmosphere. Behind the scenes, a considered operational layout with generous storage, bottle and garage chutes, ensures efficiency and ease of service.
Martin Place Bar brings together timeless materials, thoughtful detailing and an urban sensibility, resulting in a landmark city venue.
